2010 Kachemak Ski Marathon Information

Special Course Update:

Due to the very heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions so close to the race, we will be unable to completely groom the 42k course. For this reason, we have revised the course to create a single, point to point race from Lookout Mountain to Baycrest, between 25k and 30k long. Exact course and distance are still being worked out. As before the race will start at Lookout and end at the Baycrest Sterling Highway trailhead. Start time remains 10:30am.

Mark your calendars! The 2010 Kachemak Bay Nordic Ski Marathon is scheduled for March 13th in beautiful Homer, Alaska!

There are two race options 25K or 42K. The races run concurrently with mass starts about 5 minutes (Homer time) apart. The course, which begins at the newly expanded and improved Lookout Mountain Nordic ski trails and ends at the Baycrest Nordic ski trails, is challenging, varied, and truly “cross-country”. There is no other venue quite like it, and if you haven’t done the race before, you owe it to yourself to do it this year. You’ll be glad you did.

Shuttle Bus:
A shuttle bus will leave from the Sterling Highway Trailhead at 9:00am to transport skiers to the start.  There will not be a return shuttle.  Registration and bib pickup is at Lookout Mountain from 9:00am to 10:15am.

Post Race Awards Party:

The awards party will be at Alice’s Champagne Palace at 5pm.  Chowder, salad, bread, open bar, door prizes.  Adults/young adults (high school and up) - $10; big kids (6-12) $5; little kids free.

Advanced registration (save $$) is available on line or by snail mail. For further information about time/place/fees see the 2010 Marathon Registration Form  or contact Marylou Burton.
