Welcome to Kachemak Women’s Nordic & Master’s Co-ed 2019/2020
New for 2019-20: Kachemak Women’s Nordic now welcomes both men and women to participate for the entire 16 week season!
Our commitment is to building a community of athletes of all levels. No matter your ski ability, fitness, or age, the workouts are designed for every individual to improve their xc ski technique and strength. As part of the KWN philosophy, we aim to share the experience of learning, challenging ourselves, and supporting each other’s athletic goals. KWN strives to be a fun, supportive environment for adults of all abilities to inspire each other and to build camaraderie through a shared joy of skiing and fitness.
Weekly Workout Notifications
Weekly workouts are sent out via email every Sunday. Please make sure the coaches have your current email address! If you have registered for the program but are not receiving the weekly emails, you can update your email address via the contact form on our webpage (http://kachemakwomensnordic.com/). Workouts are also posted to the webpage under the tab “Weekly Workouts”. Weekly workouts will be password-protected starting Nov. 19th. Passwords will be sent out each week via email. The program also has a Facebook page that is used for event reminders and for members to communicate among themselves. We highly encourage all members to use the Kachemak Women’s Nordic Facebook page particularly if you are looking for others to join you on your own ski, etc https://www.facebook.com/groups/111252048464/
The season workouts will be held 4 days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. During dryland season
Before there is snow, practices will be held:
Tuesday 2-3:30 pm,
Wednesday 12-1:30 pm,
Friday 12-1:30 pm, and
Saturday 10 am -12 pm.
Once the snow flies, practices will be held from
Tuesday 2-4 pm,
Wednesday 12-2 pm,
Friday 12-2 pm, and
Saturday 10 am -12 pm.
Any time variations will be announced in the weekly workout notifications. KWN offers a “weekends-only” option for participants who are unable to attend the weekday practices.
The schedule for the season is as follows:
November 1st – December 21st: dryland training (skiing will start as soon as there is snow!)
December 22nd – January 6th: holiday break (no practice)
January 7th- March 15th: ski technique & training
KWN scheduled ski events:
Saturday, November 2nd, 5:30 pm: Start of the Season Social, Grace Ridge Brewery
Sunday, February 16th: Tour of Tsalteshi (Soldotna)- 20 or 40 K distances
Sunday, March 8th: Tour of Anchorage– 25, 40, or 50 K distances
