We’ll see you in 2027!!!

We're excited you signed up for the 2026 Sea to Ski!  Please read below.
A few updates and bits of info for tomorrow:

Course Review:
-Start: Mariner Park
-Run Mariner Park to HERC/MS
-Run/Bike transition: parking lot between HERC/MS (by skate park)
-Bike along Sterling Highway, take R up West Hill, L across Highland/Sprucewood, R on Rogers Loop to ski trailhead
-Bike/Ski transition: Rogers Loop Trailhead
-Ski 5k loop counter clockwise starting and stopping at Rogers loop
-Finish at new Groomers Shed at Rogers Loop Trailhead
**all courses will be marked, cross walks and road crossings will have flaggers.
**a sweep will come behind all racers
Here is a pic of the run/bike transition.  It is between the HERC (skate park) and the Middle School.
A couple safety notes:  runners stay on racer's left side of the road, bikers stay on racer's right side of the road.  HELMETS REQUIRED for all bikers.

Nordic Ski Marathon

Thank you for a fantastic Marathon 2026!

Thank you sponsors, donors, and participants.

Thank you to the amazing grooming team that maintained a the trails so they were gorgeous on race day.

Finally, thank you to the KNSC board and volunteers who put on this event not only on for the event itself, but for the after party as well.

The KNSC Nordic Ski Marathon is traditionally a marathon length (26.2mi or 42K)  point-to-point race starting at Lookout Trails and ending at the lower Baycrest Trail system.  THIS YEAR, the route will be at Lookout. See the proposed route map below.

The race goes through remote, challenging and the most beautiful terrain in Alaska. Here is this year’s likely route MAP HERE (subject to change due to conditions).

25km and 13km distance races are also offered.

Register Here!

This year’s marathon will be a modified route. There are three distance options: a 42k, a 25k, and a 13k.

SHUTTLE INFO: A shuttle is not offered for the marathon this year as it will occur all at the Lookout Trails.

AFTER PARTY INFO: All racers and volunteers are invited to our afterparty from 4-6PM at Danish Daughter Farm, 65337 Dimond Ridge Road. Complimentary food will be served. There is a cash bar as well as a limited selection of N/A beverages and juice boxes. Thanks to our amazing local sponsors we have a fantastic array of door prizes as well as a silent auction!

Questions? Email HERE.

Want to volunteer? Opportunities to support this event are HERE!

BE AWARE: This remote course is very difficult & challenging and safety comes first. This includes looking out for others & stopping to help when someone is in need until a rescue sled arrives. Do not take chances - because a rescue will take a LONG time and there is no cell service in some areas. Use caution on the steep drops- especially if you can't see the bottom! There is no shame in side-stepping the gullies. In fact, you can side-step proudly because discretion is the better part of valor.

Routes and Start Times:

9:30am START - 42k

10:00am START - 25k

10:30am START - 13k

Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers in the 42k, 25k and 13k at an afterparty/awards ceremony at the Danish Daughter Farm, 4-6PM. Awards ceremonies will start at 5PM. Food is provided and there will be a cash bar.

FURTHER DETAILS:

  • Emails will be sent to all participants with details a few days prior to the race.

  • Outhouses will be available at the start and finish

  • Aid stations will have Gatorade, water, an assortment of cookies and fruit.

  • An aid station will be along the 13k loop.

  • Bib pickup and day-of registration will occur at Lookout from 8:30-10am.

Registration for 42k for under 18 okay only with director's permission.  Not a separate event from the adult race.

This event would not be possible without the generous support of our local sponsors:

Spring Break Biathlon

Do you have plans next week?  With such a low snow year, we've held off on confirming a biathlon spring break camp until we knew it was probable.  With the upcoming snow forecast on Friday, and below freezing forecast for next week, we feel comfortable in presenting this as an event.

REGISTER HERE

Schedule:

***there will be no Saturday event as the KNSC Marathon is scheduled: https://www.kachemaknordicskiclub.org/events/nordic-ski-marathon ***

McNeil Canyon Biathlon welcomes all skate skiers and biathletes (aged 8 - 80+) with at least one year of skate skiing experience; yes parents are welcome. If an athlete has not participated in a past MCB event; no worries, we look forward to sharing the basics of biathlon.  Each day will have technical ski instruction, technical range instruction, and games to keep it all fun.  For those athletes who have participated in a previous MCB event, we look forward to building upon previous skills.  In fact, for those interested, we will devote instruction toward preparing athletes for the final race weekend of the year (March 21-22) in Kincaid: https://zone4.ca/event/2025/Lz4ZvK/.
