Kachemak Nordic Ski Club (KNSC) is dedicated to promoting Nordic skiing in the Kachemak Bay area in a respectful and inclusive environment on our ski trails and during our events. Kachemak Nordic Ski Club welcomes all to enjoy the delights of winter skiing in a safe, fun, and positive atmosphere.

Enjoy our vibrant skiing community at these events:

  • Annual Meeting and Potluck - November

    Kick off a new season at the Annual Meeting in November.  Find out what the club accomplished last year and hear about new goals and dreams.  Meet the Board of Directors and candidates to be elected at the meeting (current members are eligible to vote) and sign up for volunteer opportunities. Don’t forget it’s a fun potluck with an amazing auction to get you set for the season.

  • Ski & Winter Gear Swap - November

    Barter, trade, sell, or give away your winter and ski gear. Winter clothing, winter gear, skates, snowboards, and of course skis, are all welcome.

    The Homer High School Ski Team will be available to wax skis as a fundraiser for the Ski Team.

  • Groomers Clinic and Refresher - Nov/Dec.

    This is an important review/ refresher for all KNSC groomers and an opportunity for those interested in becoming a groomer to sign up and learn the basics.

  • Ski Your Age - Dec. 26

    Bring your Holiday leftovers and try out your new winter gear.  Ski anytime between 9 am and 4 pm.  Try for one of the following categories: Ski Your Age in Kilometers, Join the Century Club by Skiing 100 MINUS your age in Kilometers, Ski the most kilometers as a family, Ski 50 Kilometers, or make your own category!

  • FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS -  The Friday night closest to the full moon in January

    This is a unique ski experience for all ages and abilities.  We will "Light up the Night" Friday night with torch and candlelit trails. Skiers are encouraged to ski by headlamp and wear lights. The moon is full (or close). There will be a warming fire and hot chocolate.  Stay after skiing to enjoy the fire and the company.

  • HOMER SKI FOR WOMEN - Super Bowl Sunday

    Homer’s Ski for Women is sponsored by Haven House.  Costumes are encouraged with prizes for a variety of categories.  The donation goes to Haven House with larger donations always welcome.  KNSC is paid a fee for grooming and organizing the event.

  • WINTER BACKCOUNTRY FILM FESTIVAL – FEBRUARY

    The Winter Backcountry Film Festival is co-sponsored by the Alaska Quiet Rights Coalition and the Winter Wildlands Alliance.  Films are part of a juried competition and a celebration of the human powered experience to protect winter landscapes. The location is Homer Theater.

  • WINE & CHEESE AND WOODEN SKI TOUR - the Sunday in February closest to Valentine's Day

    Tour some of KNSC’s trails with two stops along the way for wine, cheese, and good company.  Participants are encouraged to use their wooden skis and/or dress in classic costume.  Time to dig out those wool knickers, wool socks, fur parkas, etc...  Door prizes will be drawn at the last stop.

  • KACHEMAK BAY NORDIC SKI MARATHON - Third Saturday in March

    The KNSC Nordic Ski Marathon is traditionally a marathon length (26.2mi or 42K) point-to-point race starting at Lookout Trails and ending at the lower Baycrest Trail system.

    The race goes through remote, challenging and most beautiful terrain in Alaska.

    25km and 13km distance races also offered.

  • SEA TO SKI TRIATHLON - Sunday closest to April Fools Day (April 1)

    The Sea to Ski Triathlon is a fun way to end the season on the weekend closest to April Fools day as you have to be a true April Fool to come out!  It includes a 5k run, 7km bike, and 5k ski. It can be done individually or as a team.  Location is determined by snow levels.

  • Skate & Classic Ski Clinics - TBD

    Clinics are offered throughout the season as need dictates and instructors are available.

  • Volunteer/Groomer Appreciation Social - End of Season

    Join us as we raise a toast to our volunteers /groomers who make skiing Homer trails possible.

    We are the luckiest skiers in the state to have these world-class trails, let’s make sure our groomers know we appreciate them!
